Yesterday I was continuing work on a little program. I had to go away from the computer for a while so I saved the file and turned off the computer. When I came back and started to work on it again, I found that all I had was a blank file. Two/three days work gone. This had happened to me before. Can someone tell me what I have done or have not done that would cause this. Very flustrating

This sounds very bad but i dont know what can be the reason of it.
I have seen with the editor that some times i added some garbage with compilation errors but i have not found a reason yet.
I would suggest a few things.
Use AutoVer or File Hamster to keep your versions.

What if you use a different editor (some have a backup function).
I use a lot of different editors depending on what i want or like :)
Some are Code Browser, Notepad2, RJ TextEd.

Thanks Fred, for the suggestions. I will look into using a different editor. Since the last incident I have started to save by using the "Save as" under "File" and saveing the file to two different folders. I also try to save my work every 10 minutes or so.

Fred, I also took your advise and downloaded AutoVer. ?It looks as though it will work with all versions of Windows. ?I work with two machines, one on XP, the other on 98SE.
Thanks again.

If you like to use another editor I can recommend PSPad. IF you are interested I can also post a syntax highlighting file which I created for FNX-Basic.

Thanks Magna, I have looked at PSpad because I had seen you mention it in another post. I have not downloaded it yet because I have dialup at home. VERY SLOW dialup(19.2k, 21.6K and sometimes if I am lucky 24k). But I have a laptop that I can take to a town near me where one of the store owners makes WiFi available to everyone, so I guess that will be my next move.
If you have anything that you can upload that you think will useful, I will appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mel

I posted it in the "Files"-forum: PSPad as IDE for FNX-Basic.
